40 Years of Racing Innovation for Professional Motorsports
Since 1986, Pro-Tint has operated at the bleeding edge of automotive film technology, serving as the quiet architect of visibility and protection for the world’s most elite racing programs. In a realm where a micro-fracture in a windshield or a split-second of glare can dictate the podium, Pro-Tint is your partner in getting that checkered flag .
Based in the heart of the Charlotte racing corridor, Pro-Tint is the trusted technical partner for championship-winning teams and discerning private collectors who demand track-validated performance for their high-end machinery. Whether you are managing a multi-car endurance team or campaigning a personal Porsche GT3 RS at a track day, our consultative approach ensures your vehicle maintains peak optical clarity and structural integrity under the most punishing conditions.
The modern standard for racing visibility was born in our shop in 1997, when Pro-Tint revolutionized the industry by developing the first Multi-Layer Windshield Tear-Off system for Geoffrey Bodine’s #7 NASCAR team. At the time, teams struggled with Lexan® windshields that, while unbreakable, would pit and “sandblast” easily, creating a dangerous white haze that obscured driver vision mid-race. Noticing this critical failure, our founder, Plato, conceived of a protective exterior film, a vision that was perfected by Steve Fricker through rigorous experimentation with film thickness and stackable application processes.
With the vital technical feedback of legendary Crew Chief Kevin Hamlin, Pro-Tint engineered an optically neutral, multi-layered system that could be shed during a pit stop to reveal a factory-fresh surface instantly. What began as a solution for a single Cup team is now a global racing staple, utilized by elite programs from Daytona to Le Mans. Today, Pro-Tint remains the primary source for the same professional-grade film stacks trusted by championship-winning teams to maintain peak visual clarity under the most punishing track conditions.
